Your intuition for shading is great, then! :D I'm jealous lmao
Getting a great minish cap vibe from this, really cool :)
Funny enough I never even arrange a palette. I just pick colors and put em right onto the piece and adjust them as I go.
I opened it up in Aseprite to look at your palette, and you seem to have a knack for colors and palette building. I was impressed by how well you managed lightness/value.
Those stones disguised as trees are not fooling the wind! Hahaha...
Yeah from an artist point of view the first is better, but in video games the 2nd is generaly adopded for at least two reasons:
- collisions/entities readability
- more simple ton integrate on random tone tiles
Btw the x1 view is really cool!
was more referring to something like this :P (middle tree) so it looks more organic, the current outline feels so harsh (in comparison to the softness of the cliffs for example)
I'm not sure I follow. The outlines are there specifically to add contrast so they don't blend into the grass.
Ahh, I totally forgot about the zoom thing. I recorded it from my game which has a larger zoom size by default.
If there's an easy way to shrink the gif down without breaking it I can re-upload.
Not bad!
Would have gotten rid of the top outlines of the tree and bushes to blend more with the grass
reminds me of old zelda games
