Thank you for the kind words, I saved in Photoshop directly to png and I’m pretty sure Photoshop creates uneccessay colors. I’ll try to index the palette first and see how it looks. Thanks. I’m going to regularly submit the new pieces as I work on the game :)
I gotcha. What program are you using? I use Gimp and when saving it's very simple in asking about compressing during the save process, but lots of programs have settings that have to be taken care of in a more initial menu setting. It may have something to do with indexed vs RGB. Mine switched on me once and it took me a couple days of checking forums before I finally figured it out. I hope those are some good places to start so you don't go crazy trying to find an answer. You could always save as a .gif if push comes to shove and see if you still are getting compression issues. Either way, good luck and I'll be watching for your future submissions.
I think it has to do with how I saved the image because I’m actually very thorough. There’s no way I used so many colors so close to eachother. I always paint at 100% opacity sampling colors from a palette. Not sure what happened but these colors were introduced at a later point after I made the art for sure. I’ll investigate.
The pose and character are definitely recognizable as Indy! Great job! However, your image specs (you can see them HERE) show an excell of 43 colors. That's pretty high for a 64x64 zoome canvas. That's not always a bad" thing depending on how you approach it, but there are wequi a few hues that are very similar. It would benefit you a ton by beginning with a smaller set palette if and when possible. If you can, you might find your close hues and consolidate them into one. You'll be surprised how much it improves the readability in most cases for both the individual pixels and the piece as a whole. Keep up the great work!
Great pose!
