Yes, you are correct. The hues iI'm using are darker than "normal". Most of the time, the levels are going to be dark places, or places not too illuminated. but there will also be levels in broad daylight.
Medusa heads are not a problem (i guess), because they like dark dungeons, but i need to be more careful with other enemies. Damn, it seems i need to start using lighter hues, but I'm so used to dark palettes... xD

Creepy! I think you used your contrast really well to show the form and contours of the head and "hair". Her orc-ish ear might use a little refinement since it's not super defined/sharp until zoomed in. The only other problem that could be posed is that your hues are fairly dark. I know those Metroidvania games like dark dungeons and spooky graveyards. So in a mock-up it might clash. But, as is, it don't matter! This is great!
