design is nice but:
coat color should be different than background
you could use some AA on the stick and tail at least
I think white border is useless here
composition makes no sense - you should expanse gfx to the right showing the portal
it would be good if you add some contrast and hue shifts to the palette
work on shadows (local too, like below the scarf, arm, ear etc) - but black shadow is too dark compared to the scene
keep it up!

This is really good. The colors are beautiful and fit very well. The rod design looks cool. This pixel art seems like one of those illustrations from children books.

At first I want to make the mage rat stand in a not-to-bright light source, but after drawing the portal,
I think I'm wrong XD
I think darkening the shadows on the rat will make it more dramatic.
