Thanks for the constructive critique! I definitely agree I could have planned out the bottom half better! I think in my next mermaid illustrations I'll plan ahead more!
Thanks so much for the feedback, I was definitely unsure how to use the space well while fitting her body. I have to agree it ended up a little bit wonky. I'll see if I can't put an NSFW warning on the review!
Yeah agreed with Arkan, really solid work on the upper body but the tail seems squished to fit in frame. It breaks the nice curves you've established in the rest of the body.
Very nice but I think you can improve the bottom part:
the fish/scorpion tail is bent too early to fit entirely in the frame
I think it would be better if you make it longer, maybe like a scorpion tail (longer and thinner) and maybe reduce the scorpion legs number (from 6 to 4 on each side) like the actual legs of a scorpion :)
... and you should add a "+18" or "nsfw" or something like that in the preview :)
Well done, but, in addition to the feedback about the tail's size, those do not look like scorpion legs, they aren't arranged like scorpion legs, and, depending on how this mermaid locomotes, they may also be on backwards. Reference pictures are really a must when it comes to drawing arthropods in detail. Our intuitive sense of what they look like is almost always simple and vague compared to what's actually there.
Very nice human half! I like your palette choices, too.
