To go with the background, here are the sprites for one of two playable characters that will be included in the game - this is the Gentleman, the other will be the Lady. The game is single player and unlike most games where you get to choose the characters in this case they will alternate automatically between stages or when you lose a life. They can stand, run, fire and react to being hit in 8 directions. Again real c64 limitations - the muzzle flash when firing is important as this allows for firing without any bullets visible on screen (saving both sprites and characters and also saving processing requirements).

I love tiny sprites! The use of the skin color sparingly to make the muzzle flash also work when white (without changing other things) is really cool.
