What program(s) are you using D8 Just about every decent pixel art tool supports transparency.

Worst case scenario, you can use this online tool to replace your background colour with transparency.

Making transparency is still a nightmare

That background colour makes the creature's skin look very dull. I think transparency would be a better choice for this one.
