Thanks for the compliments! That is sort of a long-goal of this work... we are leaning on the zelda-like format, and make no mistake about it, but we also very much want our visual style, our mechanics, and our world to have their own identities!
I can see why people do emulate the zelda style though, especially LTTP... it does a lot of things just right, and it was actually the result of a lot of experimentation about what works and what doesn't. If you randomly came up with your own assets, they wouldn't be likely to be as refined as what they used in LTTP.
Yeah, totally forgot my old account credentials, since I didn't write them down anyplace, hehe. I guess it is good when you can be recognized, so that is a plus!
I had forgotten about this game.. I played the first dungeon demo a long time ago, and really need to start following it again. Keep up the great work on it, and welcome to PJ!
To anyone who likes Zelda, Secret of Mana, or any old school action-adventure game, I highly recommend checking Hazelnut Bastille out.
These screenshots really stuck out to me the first time I saw them. Most Zelda-like clones tend to ape the zelda style. I don't know why everyone wants to copy the awful trees. Yours has a much clearer identity. This sort of reminds me of a yellow palace from the 3rd Secret of Mana game.
Oh! I've seen this on my twitter feed before, but I can't remember the name. What's the name of this game?
EDIT: found it. Hazlenut Bastille. From the username you must be Dennis Varvaro. Welcome :)
Ah, ok. I usually submit work at 3x, just so it fits window areas for other purposes. Downsized it to original again!
