I really love the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. My favorite would be the style the story gets presented in: almost top-down view of the characters, with a portrait accompanying the dialogue that shows who's talking and what emotion they're expressing. I also recently discovered the Bottersnikes and Gumbles cartoon which I really like as well. As a matter of fact, just the other day I was imagining PMD-style cutscenes with the Gumble characters replacing the Pokemon... And the challenge this is for couldn't have come at a more appropriate time hahahaha
Anyhow, what I decided to do is a PMD-style sprite and portrait of Happi. I was tempted to do Toot instead, but I thought Happi might be more interesting especially with the idle sprite animation idea I had when I looked at Happi's picture on the official website. Also his hair is normally grey - he is one of the oldest Gumbles in the cast after all - but given the challenge's tight restriction on color count (so I had to make all the colors count) and the fact the show does depict Happi with darker hair, I'll pretend this is his younger version lol
12 colors + transparency
EDIT: Edited this multiple times because for some reason I just can't get the animation speed to show correctly and it was going too fast :'( |
Nice animation. Simple and effective.
