Well, I have decided to leave this community. And I decided to go out with a firm statement on why, instead of quietly and meekly slipping out and hoping no one notices. I do that often enough, and Im not usually one to voice my complaints, but gosh darn it, its time you guys got a taste of your own medicine.
This is by far THE MOST unfriendly community I have EVER joined. Here, Ill list your faults. One, insulting comments. Two, poor critiqueing skills. Three, bickering.
One, almost every comment I have read here that are not placed on the mega amazing most worshiped peices, you know, the ones that maybe are not as good, you guys rip that artist apart like piranas. Always insulting, without giving any critique to HELP the poor artist improve. I cannot belive how many comments I have seen on different peoples artwork that reads something like "This is a peice of crap" and "I cant belive how terrible this is" Listen: if you dont have something nice to say, dont say anything at all. I dont car if you DO think its crap, someone put time and effort into these things, and your not going to help them improve themselves any by insulting them and making THEM feel like crap.
Two. When you DO endevor to give a critique and be helpfull, you always conform to consise rules, without giving any thought to the idea of maybe different ideas and stylizations. While these tips may be helpfull, it would also be a good idea to expand your horizons and realise that not all pixel art need be done the EXACT SAME WAY. This is in referance mostly to shading techniques and dithering. Your all VERY closed minded when it comes to these areas.
Three, you bicker. About "what is pixel art". My word you guys are dense. What is a painting? Well it was originally done with berry juices mixed in with other things, globbed onto canvas. Obviously any use of acrylics or oils, or painted onto things like wood or the like, is not REAL painting. Right? No. "Pixel art" is a nebulous term, and it has many different forms. I am so disgusted by all the stupid "Um I dont think this is pixel art, it dosnt belong here" comments. Get a life, and learn to play nicely together.
Now obviously I dont mean all of you, and I know that at least a handfull (and probably more!) of you do not apply to this. In fact its probably a minority that does. But it is the minority that makes up the main bulk of this community, and who needs to be a part of a community thats going to drag them down instead of bring them up? Im sorry if Uv offended anyone here, but I do hope that Iv made you blink, open your eyes a bit and maybe start to THINK about what your saying before you post comments. I am aware that this will probably get alot of nasty comments, but I really dont want to open debate: I want to make my statement and get out of here. Any flames will be given the exact amount of attention they deserve: none. (Ill still be around favouriting things though) By all.
Oh, and the base for this image is from http://www.pinkland.net Cheers.

Omgwtfboonkthxbye! to express my anger.
Now then; you posted this 6 months after you joined. This meaning the community wasn't that bad, I wouldn't stick around THAT long. Hell, if PJ-members acted the way you describe them I wouldn't even bother staying here for a week.
Nextly, not all pieces get viewed by everyone when you post them in the gallery, it's hard to see all without some that escape the eye. This means not all of the more expierences people can critisize your work if there is anything to critisize, so you'll end up getting comments from 10-year olds that still watch Pokémon. 'lollol dat sux big tim' - 'i dont liek it1'.
If this is not the case and you are critisized by the 'right' people you just can't stand critism. I read all comments of the pieces I view and I've never seen one of them missbehave.Ok, they might get a little rougher time by time but they're still friendly ('I think your lineart sucks dude, you might want to... I do like the idea. Keep it up.')
"Poor critism"?! I've looked your your gallery just now. They all have plenty of comments so I'd say the less critism you get the better.
I feel much better now.
