This was an exercise in dithering, which I'm not quite accustomed to. I started pixelling my source image on both halves, but it was so frusterating that I decided to flip the majority of the image and paste it on the other side. I discovered that dithering takes quite a lot of patience, which I do not have, so I am never doing it again.

IMHO this looks like a photo reduction, repixeled, with a mirror technique applied to it

It's nicely done. As you said, dithering is quite a long process. Your copy/flip/paste effect is not so shocking as long as the light source is placed up on the face.
