proof of concept and early development graphics for a c64 dungeon crawler. Uses c64 multi-colour characters for the background with 2 character sets and a colour split to separate the main play area and status area, plus sprites for the entities. It is completely feasible. Uses about 13 colours but not 100% certain, so I haven't listed it below.
*re-uploaded with palette correction, there was a difference in palette due to a mismatch between charpad and spritepad output, which has now been fixed and I can now definitively say that there are 12 colours...
