How is it that i need to get rights to a hud i am referencing that i drew. I drew them , and the text and the text box it took me 4 hours . plus animation time i know it's suprising to see me submit so much at once, but i just have these files on my computer that i have been working on for over 100+ hrs and wanted to just share them on an unsecure forum. even IF the hud shares likeness to the game i drew it for one... and 90% of it is my own art.
There may be an issue with this and your other "Earthbound style" piece
Using UI that originally appeared in the game "Earthbound/Mother 2" may require permission from the original artist... If you can find a way to change the UI that makes it in a way recognizable yet at least 60% different from the original then there should not be an issue.
i would guess the reasoning is following:
1. Only submit 100% original work. Ripped work, sprite edits, etc, are not allowed. Use of reference material is allowed as long as it is not outright copied.
...which the GUI part clearly is: http://walkthrough.starmen.net/earthbound/image/screens/29/plaguerat.png
copyright laws may be different in different countries, nevertheless the fact you drew something yourself usually doesn't mean very much, if the result looks the same as original (there are exceptions like "fair use", but the copyright laws are mess so i would rather not rely on that).
with that being said i personally don't mind gui looks the same - that's what makes it "in earthbound style" and it's just a secondary part of an image. but i'm not the one to decide if this is against pixel joint rules or acceptable.
