After completing the original version of this piece, I liked the result but started getting a feeling that it wasn't quite perfect. I sought out feedback from some fresh eyes, and was able to shape it up considerably with a week's worth of various revisions. The new piece wound up having a stronger (in my opinion) composition and more dynamic range of colors, which gives it a much more polished feel in retrospect.
I considered editing the original piece, but I think it's interesting to see the 2 side-by-side. I think it serves as a good reminder of the value of seeking 'fresh' critique from people who haven't seen other versions of the work before. |
I agree with all the changes you made. The colors are more vibrant, but the shading still retains the soft, pleasant feel it was aiming for before, and the composition now feels more like a movie poster or something, with the bigger emphasis on the background city being larger than the characters, which is more interesting.
