Hm, think you're right, I could've pulled it off with most of the original palette, with one of these solutions. Would've saved me from adding an extra color, too.

Interesting, I like the clusters of pixels on the final piece better, probably because you continued to work on it, although I think I might like the old coloring on the wings better, personally. Or rather, they currently feel a little too dim, and could use just a bit of lightening, without going all the way back to the old form. But it looks good either way.

I like the soft blend of the cream to salmon colors, it is a good choice of colors in my opinion. I kinda wanna know what the wings would have looked like with glowing teal color, I don't think it would look bad. But anyway, very nice piece!

It's good to keep challenging the style of your characters but I think you do have quite a range of style already!
