The colors from a distance look complex, because the piece looks so, I don't mean to overuse the cliche, gritty and realistic. But getting up close it's very limited in colors (10 of them) and uses mostly primaries plus purple and gray. I'm guessing here but good choice of saturation helped bring this piece its almost photo-like quality. Vry nice
