I've been practicing and studying pixel art some more. I finally have a piece I'm actually very satisfied with. I may go and touch a few areas later, but this is good enough for now. I believe I'm finally getting the hang of becoming a pixel artist.
Unlike my previous pixel artworks, I have learned a few very important things along the way. The first is patience. I'll admit, I didn't have much patience when I first started. I can see why it takes people so long to make big artworks. The second is banding / rimming. Once I figured out how I wanted a surface to be, I just had to follow it in bands / rims. The third is keeping tint, hue, and saturation in a very limited palette. It's one thing to see and another to do. I can see why professionals use these techniques, and I hope to build on them in the future.
Overall, the reason I made the characters in this style was because I thought it'd be cool to do an "LBA Street Fighter" mockup and wanted buff / uglier versions of the original characters. |
I agree. Haha.
