Details: Isometric, 128x128, 46 Colours, Indexed, Around 3-4 days to complete.
Process: So I knew I wanted to create another isometric work because I am definitely a fan and the last isometric work I done was a simple shape with a flat roof, so this time I wanted to test myself with a more complex shape and add a few more details. I knew straight away that I wanted to create a fantasy building much like the ones I used to see in world of warcraft when I used to play that. So I took some inspiration from there.
I like to work in many layers and I start off by colouring the entire piece in greyscale so that I can practice colour value. Then after I've applied the actual colour to it something was bothering me about it, so I did more research into colour theory and I figured out how to harmonize my colours. I did this technique called "The mother colour" I highly recommend reading up on it if you want to know more about harmonizing colours. So all my colours have a tiny bit of yellow in them and so they relate to each other which shows colour harmony.
It's funny because I feel like studying pixel art has made me a better artist in general lol. Because it still has all of the important art subjects.
Like always, feel free to leave me any feedback. I accept and welcome all critism. |
