The four main characters of Delicious in Dungeon (Dungeon Meshi in JP, Donjons et Gloutons in FR) rendered in a style derived from the GBA Fire Emblem style. From left to right, they are Laios, Chilchuck, Marcille and Senshi.
I say the art style is derived from the GBA Fire Emblem style because there are a few decisions I made that deviate from conventions used in the GBA game; examples include Lauis's skin tone, the specular highlighting on the metals, and Senshi's eyes (which are closer to how they're drawn in the manga.)
This piece has a fairly involved history; I originally started working on it for timelapse material on my youtube channel sometime around 2014; I only completed the first two portraits at the time. I had to pause the project due to my art computer being unable to handle the recording tools I used, and it was only recently (near the end of 2018) that I was able to figure out a new process, whlch allowed me to make timelapses for the last two. (I really wanted to have videos for the whole set, hence the delay.)
Of course, in the intervening years between the two sets, more characters have been added to the series so I have some more portraits to make...
The pieces are individually each under 16 colours, except Chilchuck which has 18 colours as I felt the 16 colours I had didn't look very good after 6 years. |
Good sprites of my favorite manga ever. Although there are a few deviations, the style still feels very true to FE.
