Hi Guys, sorry for the delay in replaying your comments.
The Mule, nicknamed "Zé" (short for Joseph - José), is my favorite too, @PC PIXEL. Was the third ive drawn in this picture. after the two guards, which are also my faves,...hm... everybody on the bottom is a fave, although, honestly, grandma could be improved. hehehe.
@Tpoe and @Jão, banding is something ive strugled since the beggining, need more studies and tests. About dithering, i kinda got engrossed by it, its so fun, i ended up dominated by it. But i kinda conciously dit it because it helped hide some trick pixel placement caused by perspective and its angles. Thank you guys for the comments! :)
I think you covered it pretty well in your own self critique, but like the other commenter said, I think the dithering is a little overused (not that it's bad anywhere, just not every element needs dithering here ie. clouds, roof tiles). I think the strongest part of the piece by far is the horse and the 2 people around it. I also really love the short guard, his pose is fantastic. The expressions are also good all around. But If I could give you just one word of advice it would be to watch for banding. It's all over this piece and I think it really is hurting the piece more than anything else.
I love the concious decision to seperate the characters from the background. I think that really works. Look forward to seeing more you've shown a lot of improvement.
I like this a lot, characters look fun ,would make for one hell of a beat em up. I don't know your previous work so I can't really compare, but the line work is really fun and neat. The dithering works... but I think that at this colour count, it wouldn't hurt too much to add some transition shades, specially in materials where the 1x1 dithering might make them look rougher texture-wise, clouds and trees come to mind in this one I guess. It really works on the shop background and on the shaved head, though!
So much personality in each of the characters! Well done on the NPC study
