I've been on-and-off on this site for a long time, and trying to be a little more active now. I assure you my intention was not to "rip...apart" the piece, but it is true that you didn't ask for crit. Sorry about this.
Its truly the curse of cel shading in pixel art... I have better examples, like my Sailor Moon render. The banding on this isnt too bad despite the downsides of the style replication.
Some thoughts before dropping a critique...
Ask if an artist would like a critique first or check to see if they have asked for one in their image description. Its a way of being polite. I personally could care less if someone drops a critique, but unwarranted ones may make others feel discouraged, specially if theyre just starting.
This place use to be pretty toxic back in the day when I browsed the gallery as Guest. Youre a pretty long time user, so Im sure youve seen some people rip a good piece apart just for the sake of critique. Trying to change that though... Were a bit notorious around some of the pixel artists communities for being a rather toxic place.
You've done the lighting really well, and I love the 3-layer cell-shading on this piece. Keeps everything simple and appealing, like a cartoon.
From a pixel art standpoint, you've got a lot of what's called banding. What this means is that, when you have several curving lines of pixels, if they all bend in the exact same way, the eye notices that and kind of chunks them together as blocks instead of as the curves they're supposed to be. I think this is most noticeable on the shaded side of her right (our left) thigh. Unfortunately, pixel art with outlines is pretty susceptible to banding.
Luckily, that sort of thing is pretty hard to notice unless you're specifically looking to critique an artwork, like I am. This is good stuff, and, like MasterGrand said, pretty sexy.
no drama mate. More just something to think about when posting on others art.
