Of course!
Here at PixelJoint we've tried to come up with a definition of pixel art that will keep our gallery interesting to our members, and it has led to some rules for new works.
We always recommend to use no auto generated effects such as semi transparency or gradients, this generates new colors which is against the gallery rules. See item 3, 4 and 5 on the submission page.
Of course there can be many legitimite reasons why an artist would want to use these effects, they can enhance an image or speed up the creation process, and many games and artists use these techniques very effectively. However at PixelJoint we've chosen to stay as close as possible to hand made pixel art as possible.
Let me know if you have more questions!
For sure, can I ask why? I'm just curious if I'm missing something
This is nice, but for the pixeljoint gallery version could you upload a picture without the gradients and transparent overlays? Thank you!
Got it, ty for your response!
