Most of changes in convetions in game design the last few decades have been for the better, but I genuinely miss the bulky and ornate UI design of Turn-based strategy games of old. Mostly wanted to make the UI, may have half-assed the rest of the piece somewhat. Inspiration is mainly Age of Wonders and Heroes of Might and Magic II

I like the chunkiness, but I think this piece suffers a bit from how hard it is to read the text - there's absolutely no reason you couldn't use a larger, more ornate font for your gold count et al
