I see a lot of excellent works in the website and forum, but my own painting is not good. I hope I can draw as well as other friends in the forum. This is a good one in my recent practice.

Hi, welcome to PixelJoint! I like your self-portrait, but there's room for improvement.
The main thing that stands out about this piece is the shadows. There's a very intense patch of shadow on the right side of the face, which looks pretty good and establishes depth. At the same time there's a lot of very subtle color gradations that don't add very much to the piece, and if anything detract from it. Does the curved highlight on the right side of the face add anything to the piece, really? I don't think it does.

The actual choice of colors also could be better - some of the shades look very gray and washed out. Not to mention you're using too many colors in general, in places you likely don't even realize.
