Very atmospheric scene, and great use of the difficult color restrictions. Amazing trees!
Composition is good, but the creature's head lining up with the waterline is a weakness. There might also be a bit more variation in tree heights, with one or two breaking out of the frame.
Can't tell what the creature is, I see a roundish head with antlers, not sure that was your intention ;) Whatever it is, its arm looks weird.
Would some brown in the water look good, to break the evenness of green of trees and water? And maybe some subtle dark red reflected light on the creature?
This turned out really good indeed! Well done, and thanks for sharing your process in the chat!
Thanks! I consider it a tad late to really edit this though (it was an entry for a challenge that has since ended), but I can take these points for the future and try to apply them to new pieces :)
The creature is an anthropomorphic character from a story I'm writing, whom I haven't visually defined yet (she is described in the story, but I don't have any concrete pictures at present). She is meant to be backlit by the lightsource (which is outside of the canvas) but yeah, those weren't supposed to be antlers haha - tufts of hair rather, but I see they aren't very readable as hair in that regard. Arms looking weird is a problem that probably stems from me not being very good at drawing anthropomorphic characters - I was struggling with trying to get it down and even looked up some references, but in the end I decided to settle for what I had lol. I need to practice drawing people more :)
