The pendulum is simply an example I was trying to show to illustrate what easing in and out looks like. The legs don't need to resemble the movement of a pendulum completely, just slow down and speed up as they swing in an arc :) As a matter of fact, a leg doesn't naturally swing as much/far as a pendulum (as you brought up already) so making them actually look like a swinging pendulum probably won't do them any favors, lol.

oh thank you. this is instructiv. well, you think , Since this is not a natural object, wouldn't it look like this on a leg that is deliberately pushed? Or if I apply this dynamic(pendulum) on the leg, would it be more suitable for pixel art @eggy ?
If I'm not mistaken, they mean the swinging legs should slow down to a stop when they reach one point, then speed up again on their return journey and then slow down again when approaching the other point. Like this pendulum here!

Easing in and out is an animation principle.
Don't worry, it's not as complicated as it sounds.
You could probably find it on the internet, but Richard William's book "The Animator's Survival Kit" is a great resource on animation too.
Eggy did a pretty good example of explaining it.
So yeah research the principles of animation. They're mostly guidelines though, so you don't have to strictly adhere to them.
