It's a cactus I did for the Mana World. The cactus only, without the sand and the shadow, including transparency consists of 7 colours. The sand was drawn by someone else on the project, I just used it as a background as it will be the tile the cactus stands on in the game itself. No ref, all in Gimp.

You say it as if using Gimp is a handicap rather then a great and free tool.

this is an excellent peice of artwork. for gimp and 7 colors that's not bad at all. great shading technique and perfect use of color.
