@Mykola Yeah, the smoke looks flat because that was intentional. I was going for smoke effects like in FLCL or Dead Leaves or something, but in retrospect those kinds of effects are more successful in animations than in stills...
To me the smoke looks super flat, it uses just one color, you could add some volume to it, just hilite and shadow.. Right now it doesn't really look like a smoke cloud..
@Larwick Thank you, I understand. I'm still stumbling around what is and isn't pixel art... At least I've got sprites down. Please forgive me for my mistakes.
@TBM: I think it would have looked better if you'd left it with no AA than have some fairly pointless AA instead. No offence, as i quite like the piece, but it's so close to being Oekaki it's frustrating, because i can imagine this looking far better if it was AAed nicely and the circles didn't look like they were done using the circle tool in paint...
I really like it as a picture, you've really done bomberman proud, but i can't say i like it as pixel art. If that makes sense.
@iSTVAN No reference picture was used. This is from my head. I wanted it to look like something that would be used in the game (aside from the motion lines...) and they use outlines thicker than one px. I also prefer thicker lines, but then again, I like cartoony stuff.
@MetalFox You're lucky I AAed it at all. I didn't at first, but I figured PixelJoint would be upset if I didn't have SOME kinda AA'ing going on there.
Not a fan of outlines thicker than one pixel, and I'd prefer it if you posted the reference pic, if one was used. Interesting stuff happening with the dithered explosion up there.

i like it a lot, but the action lines don't flow very well together. I'd erase them.
