yeah my rational was a few things, on a base level, its an overcast day where the sky is a light grey, but even on overcast days the skies are still pretty bright. But I also overexposed the sky for a stronger value structure, I really wanted a strong contrast and silhouette between the sky and the darker land below. In some other versions of the piece I also snuck in a very subtle gradient darkening the sky but that I couldn't use here. Finally my last thought too, was I wanted a lot of open space in the sky, so it would feel like the big oppresive thing looming over the town. Its up to you of how successful I was with that, but that was my thought process behind it all!
Pretty nice! Any reasoning for the bright off-white background though? I can't seem to be able to wrap my head around why it's this color and not some other color Just a curiosity thing really.
Very nice. This looks fairly innocuous but don't think I didn't spot the ghostly (and possibly flaming) skull rising over the right part of the roof. I really like that this is a great picture of a church that just has that subliminal little creepy detail in it. It also reflects the towers very nicely.
This piece has a nice vibe to it
