@Piq_catapult, it's afterwork-relaxing to dither around :-P
@quiara, thanks for the advices. I'm still not sure how to handle the background. But the more simple it is the better the whole pic will turn out I guess.
I love how much fun you're having with dither texture here. 6/5 stars
I find myself torn on this piece, because the guy himself is so well-rendered but I find the background super distracting. With a piece like this where you have a restrained palette with a lot of similar shades, imo, I would say the best way to do the background is have the background use a narrower band of color values so the image can stand out; maybe even without the little zigzags busting out of the "frame" so that the top hat can be the only frame-breaker (which'd accentuate the steampunk guy).
Woo, new critikill pieces! Loads of impressive stuff here, but the belt across the chest really does it for me. It looks so much like leather. Nice composition too. The vertical canvas works really well, especially with the top hat.
The face looks great too, but I feel like that's a given with your work
I agree with Quiara about the background being a little busy but are you intending to continue this beyond the current frame? I think that in itself would also help (plus I'd love to see what you come up with for a full background), although I agree with what she's said for the current version.
