One of my first attempts at full-screen (well, on Amiga anyhow) pixel art. Could do with fading into the distance to add depth. Should be 32 colours but I can't find the original IFF, and for some reason the bmp I have is 47 colours. Pallette says there's several very similar colours - not sure how that happened. One day I'll fix it.

The corner of buildings featured in the preview picture is very appealing, however I find the rest of the image to lack, particularly the mountains and sun area, when compared.

I can see your point (I think). It does suffer from lack of depth. At the time I created this (1992), I was fascinated with the Bitmap Brothers style, where even organic subjects were given a harsh edge - hence the 'cloth over broken glass' effect this scene has. Thanks for your comment - it's interesting that you're the first person to mention this texture. See these BB images for reference:

Nice scene, very calm and enjoyable. It lacks a little contrast on the houses maybe, but as see others said fun to look at.

Wow, thx for comments. I think I shouldn't have used a different set of colours for the right-hand set of rocks - leaving me more colours to add to the river, haze and distant mountains. The image is 15 years old (does that make me old?) and I was restricted to 32 cols on the Amiga - so I think it needs some bringing up to date as you've pointed out problems with the image that I've also had an issue with since 1991. Such a cool and unique perspective in this piece.  I'm not a huge fan of the way the grass blends into the snowy mountains and the water looks a little flat, but other than that I thoroughly enjoy this piece.

Thanks for comments guys. I agree there needs to be some haziness to give the impression of depth - hence the flatness you mention inkspot. The ground is one colour because I originally did it in dpaint on the Amiga with a limit of 32 colours and I ran out of shades when I got to that part - LOL! I could take some artistic license and up the colours to make it look nicer.

Scene itself is good, but it is so flat. Add some depth into it, you have just filed whole ground with one colour... Just remember, everything goes brighter as the horizon aproaches, depths have different colour layers -- try to use those.

Hey verfum ... this is an interesting scene you've made here. I really like the left side which is well detailed. I do think the river isn't really well oriented in the plan. Anyway this reminds me some great amiga demoscene. Bravo
