Something of a "pull-myself-out-of-a-slump" piece, which I'm quite happy with, in the end. Many, many thanks to the guys over at pixelpolois for the in depth crits and general help/encouragement, especially Helm (for pushing me outside my comfort zone, again) and ptoing (for the cane idea).

The colors and shading in this piece are amazing! The pose looks a little off to me, like we can't really feel the immense weight of this giant creature. Even adding a slight curve to the cane would do wonders to give this piece real solidness.

I thought the WIP looked good, but it's amazing the difference thats been made after following the C+C, helm's in particular.  That pallete is fantastic.  If I'm not mistaken, there are two stray pixels in the top right corner of the piece, which is really the closest thing i have to a crit.

Jalonso: I think I should clarify. When I said I was happy with it, I mostly meant on a technical level. The actual artwork has a ton of flaws, but I'm quite happy with the palette, and some of the technical stuff. I totally see what you're saying, though, and no, you shouldn't be happy with just anything I produce  If you think it could be improved, tell me (like you did) 'cause otherwise I'll never learn.  Oh, and you're not the only one with the weird icon fixation. If I didn't care mine wouldn't be so consistent.

One thing above your pixelling skills and creative ideas which leave no questions, ever! is your abilty to layout your pieces in a well designed and laid out canvas. On this you failed. Even on a blank background the sense of weight and space is missing on this. The grey BG being so tight around the creature makes him smaller than he suggests he is. You claim to be in an artistic slump, so I should be glad, seeing anything you make since its always inspiring.
Kudos, on not ignoring your companion icon piece and the very logoesque frame you have developed. I may be the only person that rates the icon to the piece too.
