My dad doesn't have a bad word to say about Pratchett, but to be honest I think the books he produced in his later years (starting somewhere around Unseen Academicals) feel more like first-drafts compared to the wit he showed earlier on. It's safe to assume their quality goes hand in hand with his unfortunate deterioration, so it's best to keep that in mind if/when you do get around to reading them.
He still produced an enormous, envious volume of work by himself and working with other people and it'll always hold a special place in my heart, even if I choose some rather unique ways to express it.
I love this so much. Terry Pratchett is my all time favourite author. I've only got a small number of his books, most of the books I've read were from librerarys when I was younger. I still have about 3 books of his that I haven't read, I believe they were the last 3 books he published. I really should get to reading them.
There are characters described in The Colour of Magic as being pretend-beggars, with eyepatches despite having both eyes. There are no beggars in the book described as having two right-hands, that was a cock-up on my part.
I didn't know I needed this. But now I do.
Really love the references!
To be honest even if they're not his best I'm almost certain they're more entertaining than most books out there. Its cool to see that his work is still continuing, I think BBC are doing another tv series based on the books (hopefully good) and I'm sure there will be more in the future.
