My contribution to the Weekly Challenge is my first serious attempt at making a full-scale tileset...or enough of one for me to consider it "qualified" for this challenge, anyway.
I used the Lospec 500 palette to make this tileset. And I won't even bother trying to hide my influences here. Instead, I'm gonna list them out:
Though I did heavily reference the Zelda maps, I made absolutely sure not to steal directly from them. I'm a (relative) novice, not a fool.
I'll likely keep editing/adding to this tileset in the coming days/weeks. If I come up with a "fuller" set, I'll post it as a different submission. But for now, this is the best I've got, and I think it's good enough.
Uncopyright Notice: I release this tileset under the terms in the CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication, thus dedicating this tileset to the worldwide public domain. |
I'd rather work towards a more "complete" tileset (and add more polish to what I've done already) before I think about doing that.
By the by: The "uncopyright notice" is lifted from a similar notice at the end of ebooks released by Standard Ebooks. I use it (and have used similar declarations in the past) because I have...issues with copyright and I'd prefer to have anything I make fall into the public domain as a result. If someone wants to use any of those tiles without crediting me? No skin off my back; hell, I'm glad I could save someone some time.
