You could see some tutorials or other tree works in Pixeljoint. Or, if you want or dont find anything, I´ll send you a rapid work about how to make it by a privatte message to your e-mail :)
ok. If you see the tree it seems plane, like a draw on a paper or a basrelief (carved in stone). I say that with the addecuate lights and shades you tree adquire volume, a 3d apperance ;)
I´ll suggest you to draw the groundshadow of the tree and draw ligther zones in the ground. Apply some aa in the moon and the stars to avoid the cross effect. And, by the end, draw some ligther pixel pattern to smoot the tree texture and a lighter shadow on the right side of it to avoid the no_volume effect
*blend and *nicer and *that. And another thing, don't have the moon such a straight chexagon(sorry if there's any typo's, Opera's screwing up on me right now) For example, on side of the moon is a circle while the other half is a hexagon. If you could copy the circle on the the other half, then it'd look a bit better. But you basically know how ato work lightsources and stuff, it's good for your first.
