I like this sooooo much the palette feels super 'serene', which works nicely with the empty background. And as others have pointed out, you made a good use of AA! :)

Nicely rendered, but for a good composition the bird should look into the image/void and not the near edge.

This is gorgeous. I love the subtle rendering of the feathers and delicate, painterly style.

Thanks for pointing that out. I think I fixed it now. 

I really love the color and style. My only complaint would be that the chin looks a bit fat. To my eyes, it's got a bit of a frog's vocal sac thing going on. Maybe it's fluffing its feathers.
