I'm not a hardcore gamer, so much of it is reinventing the wheel, not done out of nostalgia. It also means that appeal will be hit or miss with the gaming crowd. 

The use of colors blue and orange reminds me of the gates from Diddy Kong Racing - I like it.

Nice retro feel! I think it's the colors mainly, but the design also feels like something out of some old dungeon crawler. I think it's your best so far, keep it up!
