A landscape that I kind of put on hold for sometime but ended up becoming more van gogh inspired the more I worked on it.

EDIT: Since it was brought up on facebook I figured it would be worth sharing the WIP gif that I made to kind of illustrate the process in how this particular piece was created mainly because I felt it would be interesting to talk about. (especially for those who haven't really followed the critiques for this!)

INITIALLY this started as a 320x180 piece and I wanted to experiment using two things. The golden ratio and the rule of thirds. However after taking a break from what I started with for about a month I realized that the initial color scheme I chose just wasn't working for it so I ended up using a green instead of the orange to properly contrast between the blues and the purples. Eventually it kind of took a life of it's own after trying to emulate the brush strokes in starry night and eventually kind of taking a step back, removing the swirls and and adding them in again, giving it the patterened look in the sky.

Upon getting a critique that, the image itself was too crowded it ended up becoming a 320x320 piece to help the composition breathe. The lighthouse island in the background was really more of an after thought which, surprisingly worked within the composition of the photo.

If I had any last comments on the color scheme itself I did think a little bit about namek upon realizing what I've done, and that kind of became the joke with the piece during the time I was getting feedback on it.
