Not a great deal of creativity in this piece (this will be my next project)
but I`m pleased with how it has come out all the same. I tried to give it
a bit more of a hand-painted feel though as apposed to making a straight
copy.

All drawn using just a single pixel brush in 16 colours in Pro-Motion.

Here's a link to the WIP animated GIF;

And here's a picture of my reference (although I didn't draw from this
actual .jpg. I drew it from the inlay of the album);

Pro-motion is the best for this type of pixel art.

Hmmm, I have mixed feelings on this. Your technique is of course very impressive, but it is just a copy. I guess I'll wait for your next project to see what else you can do.

Unbelievable. I was going to say "hey, that's just a pixelated photo!" but that WIP...oh man! You've got real talent!

user
ebby (Level 1 Rookie) @ 8/23/2006 15:12
great work! the bottom lip and eyes are extremely well pixelled!

user
AndyOaks (Level 1 Rookie) @ 8/23/2006 13:28

You're right,  that jawbone area is a bit on the rough side. I`ll take another look at it.

Thanks for your help eghost.

user
eghost (Level 6 Hitman) @ 8/23/2006 12:40
The dither pattern on the near side where it transitions from highlight to jawbone curvature is a bit rough, giving that portion a somewhat fuzzy texture...Also on the near side right under the lip it feels like the dither pattern extends down about a pixel or two too far...

user
AndyOaks (Level 1 Rookie) @ 8/23/2006 12:27

Well spotted with the far side of the face. I hadn't noticed that but you're right it does appear a bit flat.

Could you give me some pointers on the dithering that could do with some cleaning up. I`ll sort this out whilst I'm fixing the far side of the face.

thanks for your comments.

user
Afflict (Level 4 Lieutenant) @ 8/23/2006 12:21
Unbelievable! 5/5 and fav great work AndyOaks

user
eghost (Level 6 Hitman) @ 8/23/2006 09:35
Very nice dither work, though some of it could be cleaner. Specifically on the near side of the jawline...My only real complaint regarding this piece is that her face appears very flat on the far side, though it appears that way in the photo as well...Simply amazing work on the hair btw...

user
verfum (Level 4 Deputy) @ 8/23/2006 09:28
Cool! This is amazing!
