Sure, I wish it was true multicolor...but there's no denying it's a pretty cool looking image!
To me your transformation was just one mouse click, but I imagine it could have been a long and painfull process to you :) Also I feel your pain. Without beard people ask me for an ID when buying beer (I'm 38).
@ptoing
Hey, thanks, man
And huh, I wouldn't know! Looks like I should better redo lots of it, starting by squishing the face as it is already quite long.
I still owe you a proper MCOL thing ;)
I'll try to finalize it this week, even if I'm not completely happy with what I did.
@Quiara
Hehe thanks.
The stray pixels on the brim are there to convey the fact that the hat is very old! It was already in bad shape when I got it, seven years ago (I think it's the kind of had you get for free with a chainsaw or weed whacker, but it's a surprisingly good hat)
@Goodlyay
Hehe, more like brainphone. It goes well inside!
@gawrone
It was for me too... I miss my not so beautiful hobo beard. Looked super weird for a few days!
@Umbohr
Oh yeah I can definitely see that. I had completely forgotten those starcraft portraits.
Uh, thanks, everyone, didn't really expect that much appreciation! Probably because I'm not really a big fan of my own face, though I did enjoy doing the phone, and also the hat. That's a first doing that right.
(I really got a new phone right before making this, didn't have one for 20 years, and I'm not too happy about it, hence the not too happy face)
Very nicely done. Would be possible on the C64 using FLI mode and some sprite overlay, or maybe just FLI and strategic BG colour changes.
Mic drop! My favorite thing about this piece, minor as it seems, is that one stray widepixel on the brim of the hat - I can't tell quite why I like it so much, because I guess technically it's too loose to count as anti-aliasing? But it just kind of... works. I can't explain it. The expression here and the level of detail on the five-o-clock shadow is also lovely.
Whoa! A last minute favorite! Love the colors and framing! Love how you made an alternate version for the preview too.
I don't really know why but i got a starcraft 1 vibe from this. Really good stuff, diggin the style and great use of the palette!
Great use of the palette, The Polaroid style framing is a nice touch
Fantastic use of the palette and doublewide! I really enjoy both versions you made :)
Meant to comment on this at the time, but what a great piece. I love the aesthetic and all the personality crammed into this. Definitely one of the most interesting entries to that weekly, too!
