[Wikipedia] - Chinook winds, often just called chinooks, are a variety of Föhn winds[1] pattern observed in the interior West of North America, where the Canadian Prairies and Great Plains end and the mountains begin. These wind patterns are named for the Chinook Indians.

Chinookee is a native chinook indian that lives as nomad in the Medley Valley. She loves when the wind blows her face

I used a ref. picture to draw the windmill :

In this scene, I tried to recreate the feeling that the wind is a strong mystical presence that caresses the main character. I hope I've succeeded ...

I updated the animation a bit. I started removing the clouds and inverting the sky dithered gradient. I've re-done the AA around Chinookee and added a small tattoo...

I just like how you made this, but how the hair was made? *_*

government.agent (Level 1 Rookie) @ 10/6/2006 05:23
Nifty - It has a cartoon style quality that's pretty hip in my book.

gambit1234 (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 9/30/2006 16:16
i see nipples

nvision (Level 4 Team Leader) @ 9/9/2006 18:08
Wow, someone who actually knows what a chinook is!  I live in the foothills of the Rockies, so we get them regularly.  Great emotion and atmosphere in this piece, and excellent colour choices!

daporta (Level 7 Colonel) @ 9/7/2006 10:03
Nice style, good shadows and motion and the girl looks really nice

Skull (Level 11 CEO) @ 9/6/2006 02:36
I cannot believe I've missed this piece. It's superb. The palette for the character is brilliant, and the animation is expertly done.

I just love how you base your art around a story/ fable.

@Lawrence: Understood ... you're right about it and I'll change that as soon as I'll have time.

@sedgemonkey: Well, I started with the idea of moving clouds, but that was way too many frames you said, and now I realize how static they are, so I'll simply remove them.

@ManningKrull: Merci beaucoup pour cette considération, that semi-chaotic hair effect was the main goal of this animation.

buloght (Level 6 Hitman) @ 9/2/2006 09:35
She looks like my favourite actress too, milla . Great interpretation and pixelling.

ManningKrull (Level 9 Executioner) @ 9/2/2006 02:41
C'es genial; je l'aime! I think the animation on the hair is amazing; it's random enough to look real and organic, and yet it's not so chaotic as to look sloppy or haphazard.

sedgemonkey (Level 11 Master Assassin) @ 9/2/2006 00:15
After looking at it again the only thing I would like to see is the clouds moving in the background.
Hmm, that would probably balloon the file size because you'd need to add a ton of frames to get a nice slow movement.

If the Sun is really that high then her breasts shouldnt be that shaded also other parts or her body :P

Lawrence (Level 10 Operative) @ 9/1/2006 16:01
The sky gets lighter near the horizon and darker near the top because the atmosphere is blue, and when you look upward, you're looking through less amount of atmosphere so you see less blue and more black (colour of outer space behind it). When you look closer to the horizon there is more atmosphere between you, and outer space, so it is less dark. Here are some photos to illustrate:

@Lawrence: I'm not good drawing landscape, and I suffered dithering this sky, but I did it with the idea that the sun was high in the sky, so the dithered gradient is, in my opinion, in the right position. But I may be wrong. If you could take the time to explain me what is exactly wrong and how to correct it, I'll love that.
@Elk: I did though about her, but then I googled pictures and think that you right about it ;-)
@Filax_666 : For sure it's perfectible, and the main mistake I made, was to draw her with 4 colors first and then drawing the background adding greens and blues, and then realising that I could reuse some of those colors to improve the model.
@Ensellitis: thx, I appreciate that!
@sedgemonkey: I would dare comparing this to gas13 stuffs ! I'm far behind
@jalonso: As a recognised master of backgrounds, I'll love to learn from you !
@space2: It's something I planned ... The windmill is supposed to be old and all damaged.

space2 (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 9/1/2006 11:57
I like it!
A few comments: the rotating part doesn't seem a perfect circle and it's a bit jumpy.

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) @ 9/1/2006 10:57
Great overall. I only dislike the clouds in their shape and position.

sedgemonkey (Level 11 Master Assassin) @ 9/1/2006 08:51

I love the semi-rotoscope feel to the animation.  Animation style reminds me a bit of the old Gas 13 portraits.

Ensellitis (Level 11 Sensei) @ 9/1/2006 08:36
"She looks like my favorite Actress, Mila Jovovich"
YES!  when i first saw this, i knew i recognized her as someone!

i really like this, you did good by me

Filax_666 (Level 6 Hitman) @ 9/1/2006 08:24
It's an appealing piece but I'm sure the girl could have some more work, no?

Elk (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 9/1/2006 08:15

She looks like my favorite Actress, Mila Jovovich

Nice work :)

Lawrence (Level 10 Operative) @ 9/1/2006 07:17
Excellent work! The animation is great and the shading on her is very good, but the thing I noticed was that the sky should be darker near the top and lighter near the horizon. Great work though.
