I have a fairly vivid idea in my head of what Last Resort is about, but I wound up keeping the poster too simple for much of it to come through. (Spoilers for a movie that doesn't exist.) The concept came from combining Taylor Hebert and Ninomae Ina'nis. Basically, a bullied high schooler comes across a possessed grimoire and decides to use it to claim some agency over her life, then things go wrong. (Now that I say it out loud, it sounds more like a cross between Carrie and Faust.)
Anyways, the poster is very barren and a bit ominous—a young woman in an occultish circle in what looks like a blank void. Not much is clear. Which strikes me as a pretty plausible poster for the first movie in a horror series. Next week I'm going to be making a poster for a horror sequel. Should be interesting!
Making the figure legible at such a small scale and with such a limited color palette was an interesting challenge, as was making the circle not blend into her arms or dress. Shame that the only color left was that brown... |
Love the backstory. Nice poster, and I agree that this minimalistic design is plausible.
