thank you very much! :] interesting, for me these huge concrete box-shaped monsters are so iconic, that i didn't even think about the possibility it might not be recognizable :]]
Very cool portrait! I did not understand that there was a building in the background until you mentioned it, though.
@Trigonomicon: thank you! i tried my best to stay true to reference, even though it was black'n'white (and glasses were transparent)
@stickman: thank you! yeah, there are multiple spots i'm not fully satisfied with. but i stared into this piece for so long, that i need to take a break from it. i might revisit it some day though.
I am in awe of the "photorealism" on display here, great job!
Excellent execution on the face.
My only nitpick is the dithering on the shirt collar, as it seems to come into conflict with how the bow tie has rendered.
I love those glasses!
thank you very much! the face took rather long time and honestly i really have to hold myself to not go back and start to tweak it :D
Very cool. The lighting's lovely. The shadows from the glasses must've taken ages to get right, even with a reference. I love that you've used the line of the building to accentuate his upwards gaze (towards the future, maybe).
oh yeah, bauhaus would be interesting challenge too. those guys were pretty wild.
Yes, I also think the ambiguity is a positive! This got me thinking about what variety of historical palettes one could dig up. Bauhaus could be a good resource...
thank you! truth is, his buildings were rather abstract :D the building in background is inspired by this one. the assembly line interpretation works for me as well - the apartments are modular after all, so it's close.
This is really cool! For some reason I had to stare at it for 10 minutes before I understood the perspective of the building. At first I thought it was a kind of abstract architectural thing or assembly line viewed from above. Strange...
thanks! :]
