Still looks paint´ish... Must be the shape of the helmet! Otherwise, the shading, and the hair looks pretty nice, but as I said before, the shape of the figure should be fixed to a more smooth shape. Try AAing it...
And if you wanna avoid pixelling a face, even a barely-visible, heavily-shadowed bridge of the nose would be a great touch! Just catching that same little bit of light that's hitting that inner edge.
One simple thing that might help a lot: right now the T shape is pretty solid black (or dark gray) space, but there should be a visible inner edge to the T shape, to make the helmet look like it's made of thick metal. The inner edge would be visible along the inside of the T shape, on our right, and would be a little lighter gray, since the light source is coming from our left. Make sense? Without that edge, the helment looks paper-thin. It's always a good idea to use reference for this stuff. A couple examples are here and here.
yah i relize the helmet is too dark in the T but im horrible with faces or i would draw a face with a shadow
yes i too thought there were too many colors but heres the deal
helmet 5 colors hair 4 colors skin 5 colors shirt 7 colors the helmet=21
and then i dont know where the other 7 colors are ill try to fix it though
My biggest qualm is how bright the piece is, but then switches to total black in the "T" shape of the helmet. I would either add a hell of a lot more contast, or lighten the area in the helmet. And 28 colors is quite high, this could be done with ten to the same affect, I think.
