My submision for the Pixel Art Challenge (and Pixelween contest entry): Bride of.
*(Unexpected events caused me to have less time then anticipated, might change/clean up the poster/text later if I have time :P)
A memory, mourned.
The night fell, and so did her spirit. Two days ago the woodsman had gone into the woods, or as at least so she had heard it. In less than three months, her whole world fell apart. Where had the time gone? If only the woodsman had said where he was going that day, when he gave her…
The package, she almost forgot.
She reached in and grabbed it out of her robes.
It was made from wood. Tree trees stood on a hill. Two tiny figures sat underneath, one with a rod in his hand, the other, smiling, just like in a time when he was still alive, when she was still married, when she was not the widow but the bride. ‘’The fisherman’s bride’’. And then, like a memory, there they sat, her holding his hook, snatched right out of the water with her robe, teasing.
What a catch! Husband and wife had said.
Underneath the then younger trees, still in threes. Always in threes. And she noticed, this little prop, created with the most delicate touch from the roughest looking man, was made from the same trees.
A woodsman’s gift for the bride of the fisherman.
One brought three to zero, and zero brought three to one…
Now just one…
A widow.
