Rather recent one, it's from automn 2005. I did this mockup to demonstrate my coder how I wanted the tiles arranged and how cool things might look with the shadow tiles used. It's for a mobile phone action RPG game which we didn't finish yet. We already finished an old version with 16x16 tiles and 16x20 sprites, but that wasn't enough detail for big screens (e.g. Nokia Series60 Symbian mobile phones, like the Nokia 6600 or so), so I had to do everything from scratch in bigger. And that was a LOT of work. I wasn't really capable of handling the work because my second to last year in school started etc.
Contrast is much better than in other artworks, so I think I improved during the years. But, yeah, colors aren't all that cool. Grass colors were picked from Secret Of Mana years ago and somehow developed; that's my favourite generic grass tile color, you know :) The trees were made with my pen tablet which helped a lot in doodling curved forms. Sadly I didn't isnert water tiles here, maybe I'll do when I proceed doing graphics for this game. |
