I like your hybrid pixelart pieces. I feel your pain!

there is a differenence between questionable, and obvious.  when your art is approaching thousands of colors, that makes it obvious.  a single red brick on the has 75 colors, that is impossible for a real pixel artist to do that...  n00b or not.

i will quote for you the rule we have concerning things like this, #6 on the submission form:
"Any art you post should be PIXEL ART! Pixel art implies that each pixel is placed by hand (no filters, paintbrushes, gradient fills, etc)."

this age discussion is getting pretty old, frankly.  we run this place just fine, until some cocky person post NPA, then tries to start some kind of uprising.  we still get new members in here all the time, some leave, some stay.  we run this place in a manner that keeps this place free of non pixelart.

you coudl easily avoid this "abuse" by posting something that doesnt contain tooled areas or layer opacities.  you set yourself up there.

I was not complaining, whining, or displaying a bad attitude.

I was just making observations of comments.

For someone who complains about whining and bad attitudes, you seem to have a flair for both.  This isn't an insult.  This isn't childish.  These are observations of your comments.  If you don't mind, anything else you'd like to add can be, as proposed by yourself, in a private message.

Enseillitis - I suppose I just have a differing opinion on what makes pixel art.  I've seen plenty of pieces on here that look as "questionable" as mine that don't get complaints.  I removed the lighting/layer effects from all three background images I've posted so I'm not really sure why that keeps coming back up.

I should clarify that I don't have a problem with the rules, just the attitude that came across about the rules.  It's not a "I dislike somebody" thing, just that if a place is going to enforce the rules, they should be enforced respectfully.  Abrupt is good/acceptable, but insulting and condescending children whining at me is not.

I suppose that can't be avoided when  young children (16 year olds) are allowed to act their age.  I moderate over at the AGS boards and we really reign the children in to keep the boards there from becoming ... well ... like it is here actually.

I really like the idea of this community ... but as I've learned over at AGS, if you allow this "attitude" to prevail you chase off a lot of people.  What's the point of an online community if you have a base of people and no new people joining in?

feel free to post your non pixel art somewhere else.  using layer effects, brush, blur, and opacity effects are NOT pixel art...  just because you may have made the basic shapes and coloring pixel art, does NOT make the entire thing pixel art.

i can see several places that arent pixel art on this:
1) stains on walls
2) shadows
3) textures

i too this onto photoshop, and one red brick has 75 colors, on just ONE brick.  your piece has far to many colors for it to be done by a human.  i have been working with digital graphics for over 10yrs, so i can spot a computer asisted effect very easily.

besides, you already said on your other 2 backgrounds you used layer effects...  so you set yourself up there...

I'm assuming that by "all your others" you mean the entire 2 other backgrounds from the game?

What part of this image is so hard to believe?

I think I'm just going to remove these images ... post them somewhere they'll be given a fair shake.  I'm very disappointed in the over-all attitude here.

now, is this actuall 100% pixeled by hand?  or did you do more layer tricks like all your others?  i am thinking you did because some of the same characteristics are there
