Mona Lisa pixel art recreation I made a few months ago. It's still one of my favorites to this day, despite the slight shading mistakes.
Also:
REASON: Any art you post should be PIXEL ART! Pixel art implies that each pixel is placed by hand (no filters, paintbrushes, gradient fills, etc).
Thanks for the laugh. I made it in MsPaint and I love it when people can't believe that this was pixel art (happend when I posted it on a forum as well). To support that it is, I guess the best I can do to prove that it is is to submit one of my few earlier saved versions and describe how I made it:

I used a picture of the real Mona Lisa for reference. To start, I pretty much just made a blob of skin and some brown hair around it. I picked another, closer to pink shade and made some blobs within the skin for highlights, then took a darker shade and used it to define the neck, eyes, mouth, and nose. I then added some random dither-like dots under the neck to somewhat blend it - and creating a painting-like effect. The breasts were pretty simple - I just took a lighter pink and drew them in. The hair texture was easy as well - just some lines drawn in with darker and lighter shades.
The dress started as a green blob with gold at the top. I then defined darker and lighter shades of green, and then textured it in the same way as the hair. Eyes are simple shades of black and grey. To finish it off, I colored the background greenish-tan (to match the general tone of the real background) and added a slight border.
Now does it seem like pixel art? I'm gonna be pretty disappointed if this is thrown out for a *second* time for "not being pixel art." |
I didn't think it was pixel art, so I rejected it. Feel free to prove me wrong by doing what Ens said.
