This guy is the hero of an NES-style horror platform game I'm now working on. The main character design is 28x28 pixels, 8 colors, but the canvas size expands with the attacks and jumps, and the color palette goes up to about 14 during the injured/dying stuff. The game is set in the late 19th century, and the hero is a square-jawed mustachioed gentleman with a swordcane, fighting vampires and mummies and stuff. The gameplay has an interesting twist which I won't reveal until we're a lot further along with the development...

Very cool character...I could see him running through an Edgar Rice Burroughs novel! My only criticism would be with his legs when he jumps...they seem rather wooden and heavy. Perhaps a change of positioning might make the jump a little more dynamic?
Thanks! Yeah, I didn't have any plans for those monsters while I was working on them, but some of them will definitely appear in the game, probably modified a bit. You're on the right track with the twist, but it's a little more complicated than that...
Im guessing that the plot twist is that he beomes a vampire/werewolf/zombie himself later on in the game. Some of your monster designs are top notch will any of them be featuring in this game?
Thanks TheChaindog! I think this guy will be a lot of fun; he's a ridiculous gung-ho explorer/scholar/archeologist/boxer/fencer/daredevil pilot/treasure hunter/etc, way too brave for his own good, all that good stuff.
I already congrdulate you on your choice of hero. Someone like this is way cooler to play than some anime teenage girly dude or a bald space marine. I'm looking forward to seeing more. Great work, man.

On a more serious note, the animation is fluid and I get a sense from what I've seen that this game will be quite fun!
