Had an impromptu week off at work and the itch to create something; I didn't plan for any part of this piece at all and started by just skecthing with a color scheme I liked at the time. After I got the composition I wanted, I mostly aimed to practice at certain things I found lacking such as AA, bolder plane changes, dithering and the works. I love Contra and Metal Slug, so I tried ot inject a bit of that DNA here.

Really cool mock-up! The use of dithering is nice, particularly on the platform and water, and the enemy designs are great!
